Everything is at your doorstep with convenient transport options surrounding Kaduna Park. Head into the city via the Pakenham Bypass (M1) or Cardinia Road Train Station, both just around the corner.
Everyone has their personal story of frustration with level crossings, whether you’re in the car, on the train or riding a bike or on foot. Now there will be significantly fewer with the Victorian Government eliminating 75 level crossings by 2025.
The dangerous, congested and frustrating Cardinia Road level crossing has been fast-tracked construction underway to build a road bridge over the rail line and remove the boom gates to be completed by 2021.
How does this construction affect commuters? These boom gates are down for approximately a third of the morning peak – impacting over 23,000 vehicles travelling through the crossing each day.
Current disruptions
12th-18th May
Traffic between Bridge and Henry Roads and Shearwater Drive and Arena Parade will be closed at times. The shared use path at the level crossing will also be closed from 9pm 15th May to 5:30am Monday 18th May.
15th-17th May
Buses will replace trains on the Pakenham line between Dandenong and Pakenham Stations from 11pm Friday 15th May to last train Sunday 17th May. Currently, the west shared use path on Cardinia Road in Pakenham will close from Bridge Road to just north of the level crossing until 2021. The pedestrian crossing on either side of the Cardinia Road level crossing is closed during this time. Alternatively, pedestrians can use the path on the east side of the road and cross Cardinia Road at Shearwater Drive or Bridge Road.
The benefits of these removals are an improvement of traffic flow, reliable travel times, safer conditions for vehicles and trains and the removal of shared paths.
